That doesn’t even include all the parents that are giving care to their kids who might have special needs, or the ones who are grieving the loss of a loved one who are in need of support of some kind.Caregiver Burnout is at epidemic levels! The sad thing is that if not corrected, these loving, dedicated and self-sacrificing heroes will become as sick or sicker than the ones they are caring for!

Uplifting Interview with Stephen Dixon

Surviving the Grief & Loss of a Spouse: Stephen Dixon, Caregiver.

Join Dave Nassaney, The Caregiver's Caregiver, and his guest, Stephen Dixon, Caregiver to his late wife of 33 years, Brenda, who died of stage 4 breast cancer just 8 months ago. Steve is very strong in his faith, and this has helped him to go through the grief process quicker than most who have suffered such a loss. In his words, "I remember clearly being strong to communicate the seriousness of Brenda's condition with our semi adult children and then two days later crying to God as I drove home from a concert because I did not want to lose my Brenda! We enjoyed many good days along with some not so good days as she underwent first radiation and hormone therapy, then chemo therapy to deal with the disease. Fast forward to one year ago this fall - September, 2013 and I received quite a shock when I was let go from my work of 32 years simply due to "re-organizing", but in the providence of God I was then able to stay home with my bride for the last six months of her life. Brenda died on March 11, 2014 at Holy Cross hospital.During those last six months I enjoyed three months of life with her as husband and friend, and then became caregiver husband for the last three months of her life.  God gave me great grace to deal with my great loss as I went and stayed with her every day at the hospital, and then was her sole caregiver for three days at home and then closing out her time on earth the last 6 days at the hospital. These were difficult days - but we were encouraged by God's word - by the prayers of many, many Christians and by flowers, cards, and visits of our close friends.Dave Nassaney is the author of numerous articles and books, speaker, life coach, and radio talk-show host for caregivers who are burned out, but his most important role is being a caregiver to his lovely wife, Charlene. Adrienne Gruberg, Pres. of The Caregiver Space, Discusses The Caregiving Crisis

Join Dave Nassaney, The Caregiver's Caregiver, and his guest, Adrienne Gruberg, who refers to herself as "one of the millions of baby-boomers now in the middle of the caregiving crisis."She was born in New York City in 1948, and graduated from Boston University School of Fine Arts. Adrienne spent time in Liberia, West Africa, helping to set up a study for the New York Blood Center to discover the serum for Hepatitis B. She has worked at NBC Network in the business affairs department of the programming division, and later founded Adrienne Youngstein & Associates - an award winning graphic design, marketing, advertising and branding company in New York City. With the encouragement and coaching of her future husband, Steve Gruberg, she became a contestant on the popular TV game show "$20,000 Pyramid" and won the Grand Prize.Adrienne became a constant caregiver to both her husband, diagnosed with lung cancer in 2005, and his mother, who at the age of ninety in 2007, was diagnosed with lymphoma and went to live with her son and daughter-in-law in New York City. As a result of this crisis, she is the proud Founder and President of The Caregiver Space.According to Adrienne, "This site grew out of a personal need to connect with other caregivers and be part of a community where experiences and feelings could be shared and support could always be gotten. Understanding there are so many causes that make someone a caregiver made this site evolve into a place where a caregiver for any reason, could come and have a place to air their feelings – keeping them in is both exhausting and counter- productive. There are many services available to caregivers of patients with specific needs, but our concern is exclusively to comfort and help the caregiver."You won't want to miss this informative and moving interview.
